Through the use of manual therapy techniques including myofascial release, deep tissue massage, joint mobilization, and cranialsacral therapy, proper body alignment is restored, and then women are instructed in a specific exercise program tailored to their individual needs.
Unlike physical therapy sessions at most clinics, Debra Goodman, MSPT will spend an hour with each patient individually. Patients will never feel rushed. Treatment will be individualized to each patient’s particular needs.
By focusing on specific abdominal exercises and breathing techniques, physical therapy can help prepare women for labor and delivery. Strong abdominal muscles and knowledge of proper pushing strategy can help women push more effectively and shorten delivery time. Furthermore, safe abdominal strengthening during pregnancy will help promote a faster recovery, a quicker return to pre-pregnancy figure, less back and pelvic pain, and will minimize abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti).
